Trilogy Land Clean-Up
Every year Easter services are held on the Trilogy property owned by the church. We had 15 volunteers gather together to clear the land and provide a landscape for families and friends to gather together and celebrate a risen savior. A bobcat was brought to the property which helped clear the land quickly and the team need to work a few hours to get the job done. We are so thankful for the heavy equipment provided so our team's strength can continue forward on other projects! Thank you for everyone that served....your hours given provided for several hundred people to enjoy Easter with their family on a beautiful piece of land at sunrise. |
KOURKAS PROJECT LOWES PARTNERSHIP
ALL AMERICAN ASPHALT FST GRAVEL MAGIC TOUCH TREE SERVICE JoAn is a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She is well loved by many and lives out her love for God by being an encouragement to all she meets. James Project volunteers turned out in large numbers to assist JoAn with a spring yard clean-up. JoAn's husband loved planting citrus and avocado trees on the property and loved tending to the yard. When JoAn became a widow 4 years ago the property became difficult to maintain. JoAn, in her usual generosity, shared the harvest from her trees with all that worked. A BBQ was provided for the more than 60 volunteers that gave a total of 284 man hours. Volunteers worked from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm cleaning the front, back and side yards, cleared weeds, removed railroad ties, provided a new subfloor for the shed, laid ground cloth, shoveled rock and decomposed granite, and much more. The volunteers love to work side-by-side to bless others, and this project was no different. Much joy and determinate resulted in a beautiful yard for JoAn to enjoy. A special thanks to Frank Smith and Frances Martinez of FST Gravel, and Bryan Cannon of All American Asphalt, for their donation of rock and decomposed granite. A local tree trimming company, Magic Touch, also participated by trimming all the avocado trees on the property. Thank you to volunteers that baked and provided refreshments, and to Denise Atchison for organizing a BBQ for all to enjoy. |
KELLEY PROJECT LOWES PARTNERSHIPWe were blessed to meet the Kelley family and assist them with home repairs and a beautification project. Volunteers provided a handicap access ramp, garage door opener, window shades to protect from the hot summer sun, a vegetable garden, hanging strawberry baskets, a patio sitting area, a new ceiling fan, security lights and an overall yard clean up.
A special thank you to Lowes of Corona for donating to the project by giving a 50% discount on all products used on the property. A very special thank you to Manager Kevin Tierny and Pro Desk Associate Brandi Brooks. These two individuals consistently invest in our community and for that we are grateful! We truly enjoyed getting to know this wonderful family and help with home repairs while bringing a smile to the homeowner's face. James Project loves to bless families and encourage them, especially when they don't have the resources or time to make repairs themselves. This mom and daughter were a joy to everyone they met and made this experience extra special. |

KESSLER PROJECT - A letter of thanks
Please share this when you report what James Project was able to do for the Kesslers. You have been a great blessing to us a couple of times now and we want to say thank you once again. The grab bars that were put up in our bathroom last week, March 2015, have been a tremendous blessing. My husband was able to stand in the tub while I helped him to shower and our daughter who also has Huntington's said "oh this is nice", when I gave her a shower as well. It also helps me as I get in and out because I have an artificial knee and I feel much safer now as well as our son Tim who had a bad injury to one leg several years ago and often has pain with that. So we all four want to say thank you for being willing to put in the time to help us make our home a safer place for everyone. It may not seem like much sometimes but I speak from experience when I say it feels and means much more to those of us you are helping. May God bless your church family as you continue to grow and reach out to the community. The James Project is a much needed and important project. Friends in Christ, Joan and Wayne Kessler Corona, Ca. |

FOLK PROJECT ALL AMERICAN ASPHALT PARTNERSHIP
STEVE'S TREES PARTNERSHIP Volunteers came to the home of Mary Folk in large numbers on October 18th. James Project had 50 volunteers work a total of 199 hours on a Saturday morning to beautify Mary's yard and home. All American Asphalt donated rock to completed the landscape renovation and Steve's Trees removed old trees and trimmed all trees on the property. Included in the makeover was a installation of a handicap access ramp to provide a safe exit from the home. Mary Folk had not been able to leave her home for 16 months as she had no way to exit her home in a wheelchair. The new ramp allows Mary to visit a doctor, shop for groceries, and enjoy the sunshine. Mary had been ordering her food through Amazon until her ramp was installed. This project was our largest project to date, as well as the most needed. Volunteers made repairs to the roof and fascia, painted, planted succulents, and created a drought tolerant landscape. Many people gave to make this project possible! Mary expressed her gratefulness in tears after the volunteers left for all that was completed. Mary even strolled her yard in her wheelchair for the first time in 1.5 years to take a look at all that had been given. When Jesus says to take care of the poor, it is Mary that comes to mind. Our team is blessed by the response that literally changed the course of Mary's life through the love poured out by everyone who painted, picked up a hammer, or a shovel at Mary's house. Be sure to take a look at the photo gallery for this project, it was really quite amazing. Mary Folk wanted to express her gratitude by writing poems to you, the volunteers. Please take a few minutes to read this expression of heart-felt appreciation for all she was given: THE VOLUNTEER To volunteer is to give of yourself With no thought of cost to the ones that you help For your hands are the ones that are needed When the time comes to give that hand You give with your heart and soul To help your fellow man When times call for action, your ready to take that stand For you're a volunteer, that will always give that hand THE CARING TOUCH The caring touch Is more than touching with your hands It is touching with your heart It is giving of yourself with all you can When times are hard for others The touching heart can mean so much More than all the gold or silver More then all the money in the world It's the time you give to give that hand That helps the people that you can With love in our hearts, minds and souls We all have the caring touch THE BRIGHTEST LIGHT The brightest light is not the one you see With your eyes but what you see with your heart It is the light of your, love it is the light of your caring It is the light of your soul The brightest light will lead you to the ones You need to help the most, it will show you the way It is the light of joy, hope and love It the light of God from above It is to each and everyone of us to help All can help every man woman and child A shoulder to cry on, an ear to hear their pain A laugh to make them happy, to smile again This the brightest light, it is your soul shining through |

ANAYA PROJECT LOWES COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
The Anaya family consists of 10 children (under 18) and 3 adults, living in one household, filled with love. The family is low income and was under a City of Corona code violation to provide front yard landscaping. The James Project volunteers provided the family with a low maintenance, drought tolerant landscape. A big thank you to Lowes for providing the landscape materials at a 50% discount, US Battery of Corona for transporting all the materials, and South Coast Pavers and MJB Wood, Inc., for landscape supplies. A special thanks to Sunrich Fruits and Monster Energy/Hansen for providing the volunteers with drinks and snacks. The 45 volunteers began work at 8:00 am and completed the project by 11:00 am, providing 135 service hours. The team shoveled rock, planted trees and beautified the property to not only pass code, but provide a wonderful gift to the family. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time and talents to make this project possible. The City of Corona has closed the code violation on the property in response to the new beautiful landscaping. Way to go team! Dear James Project , We don't really know the words to say for the work you have done for our family. To take a Saturday out of your lives to help with yard work, not to mention planning for some one like us, leaves us speechless. God is certainly working through you to show compassion and care for others without anything in return. You're a group of amazing people - not only did our yard come out amazing, but you taught our kids and us that there are still many people out there who have an unselfish heart. You went above and beyond our expectations. We would have never been able to get any of this done without your help. With my husband working two jobs just to get by, and the city requiring so much. from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much. We can't wait to help you out on future projects to help bless someone the way you have blessed us. The Anaya Family |

AYALA PROJECT HOME DEPOT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Many volunteers worked on a Saturday to assist Sylvia, a single mom, and her disabled son Christopher, with a yard clean-up and home repairs. Volunteers were able to accomplish many tasks in the home that needed completion. A hand held shower head was installed for Chris, kitchen baseboards repaired, and interior painting touched-up for the homeowner. A front and back yard clean-up were also completed, getting the yard ready for spring. A total of 38 volunteers served 120 hours to complete this project. A note from the homeowner: To James Project & Home Depot: There are no words that can express the overwhelming gratitude that my heart feels for what you have done for me and my son Christopher. The kindness and the unselfish acts that you have shown us will forever stay in my heart and mind and I will be forever grateful. It is still difficult for me to believe that you came at a time when I most needed you – without any hesitation. One has heard forever the story of the Good Samaritan. I am still amazed that I have met a group of people who take that lesson to heart. Thank you for the incredible work you have done on my home. Your organization and professionalism, your attention to the smallest details, were remarkable. It was great meeting so many wonderful people, and I am looking forward to helping you with projects like this for others. Thank you for this wonderful blessing you have bestowed upon my family and me. God bless you, Sylvia and Christopher Ayala |

A family reached out to us this year regarding a water leak that had water running down their front yard and on to the street. This couple lives on a fixed income and was not able to make the needed repairs. Their neighbors referred them to the James Project for help. Quick repairs ensured this family was not charged enormous water fees on their next bill. A special thank you to Tony Yanis for his donation of service hours. Thank you so much for fixing our water leak. We were unable to fix it. Many times I put my hand over the leak and prayed that God would fix it or send someone to help us. You all were the answer to my prayer! Thank you so much! Thank you, Tony, for fixing the leak. God Bless you all. Bill Vasquez |

GOUIN PROJECT - A PLACE TO CALL HOMEChris Gouin and his son have been looking for a place for them both to live together after several years of renting rooms. Volunteers began collecting furniture donations and assisted in locating a rental in the Corona area. Enough donations were collected to furnish a 2 bedroom home including a refrigerator, kitchen supplies, couches, bedroom furniture, and more! Volunteers also provided cleaning, organizing, painting and decorating to make this house feel like a home. It was amazing to see the transformation of a rental condo into a "ready-to-live" home with all the furnishings. Read the family note below:
I first want to thank you with all my heart for what you all did for me; it was overwhelming and difficult for me to process. It truly was over the top and completely unexpected! As you may or may not know I have had a very difficult time over the past few years with career and family and in this trial I have suffered much. I could not have imagined myself a few short years ago facing all that I have but by the grace and love of God He has walked with me through it all. Not only this but He also provided a family for the one that I no longer had in all of you just as the bible says He would. I am so rich and blessed by all of you and in all of you. The love and caring that you showed me in what you did was truly an answer to prayer and acting in love just as we are all called to do. I was blown away by the outpouring of love in help and all that I needed to fill a home as I had really nothing to begin again with. I watched as person after person showed up to help with the task of picking up what was donated to bring it to the new place, to those who were painting, washing, decorating, and on and on. So many of you came to help, some not even knowing me but that your heart was to serve as God has blessed you. Even in your own struggles of which over that day I was so blessed to spend time with some of you to hear your stories and challenges. The tears that welled seeing my son’s face when showing him his own room which he has not known for a long, long time was an experience unless you have been through is hard to put into words. For me to be able to walk into a home where my son and I can be together is a dream come true and an answer to many a long and lonely night’s prayers. To have a place to spend alone time with my Savior in stillness and quietness before Him is more precious to me than I could ever express. There is so much more that I could say about what happened that day and about the people who came and who gave! My words fail me to express my gratitude towards you all. I want to thank Olive Branch for this ministry, it has touched my life in a profound way which I know reaches into eternity for all who give and serve in the James Project. Chris Gouin |

CAMPBELL PROJECTSteve and Deann Campbell are a wonderful couple that both struggle with disabilities. We have helped the family in the past with items for Steve, but this is the first time we have been able to help Deann. Deann is an incredible care-giver for her husband, and while struggling with muscular dystrophy, continues to provide for her husband while working part-time for the school district. JP volunteers were blessed to be able to give to Deann in such a practical way by installing a shower safety bar for her use. She was all smiles once the Street Team was able to complete the work and she tried it out for the photo! Project photos are located in the photo gallery.

KESSLER PROJECTThe Kessler family was in need of bathroom renovations as two of the families members struggle with physical disabilities and the family lives on social security checks. The Kesslers were referred to the James Project through a family friend. Home Repair volunteers finished this project over two days due to the extent of repairs needed. The original toilet needed replacement, the sub floor also needed repair and partial replacement. Volunteers floated the new floor, installed new tiles, installed a new toilet, cut and painted the new moulding and caulked the shower and tub. Whew! The volunteers did a GREAT job. The linen closet in this bathroom was also modified to accommodate the new toilet height. The Kessler family was very excited to have such a functional and beautiful bathroom when the project was completed. Project photos are located in the photo gallery.
To the JP Team: We live on small social security checks which leaves us with about $6.00 each month after our bills are paid, which made it impossible to make the repairs needed to our home. I want to recognize the three men who did all the work: Sam is a gracious and compassionate man and Jim is loving as well as very knowledgeable in his work. Deke is very quiet and worked all day on the floors. They are not only a tremendous asset to your church but all are an even bigger witness for the Lord and this community. Thank you for considering our needs and being willing to help us out in this way. It was a problem that was going to continue to get worse with no possible end in sight because of our finances and health needs. It isn't easy to ask for help but I am thankful and grateful that we did. May God bless you in your efforts to serve Him in this way. He has blessed us greatly through you. Sincerely, Joan Kessler |

HUME PROJECTThe Hume family had been overwhelmed with a build-up of many years of yard projects that had not been completed. The Hume family was referred to the James Project by one of their neighbors. The homeowners needed the encouragement the James Project volunteers brought to this project which consisted of a yard clean-up, garage door repair and paint, stucco repair for both the front and rear of the house due to moisture damage, a large stump removal, and a new ceiling fan installation. We were blown away when 28 volunteers joined us on this project - and we needed EVERY SINGLE PERSON! The change to the yard and home was amazing, but the joy on the homeowners face made the entire project worthwhile. The homeowners expressed great joy over the garage door repairs, new ceiling fan and labor on the yard that they could not have done themselves. The family is often found giving to others and serves their local community whenever possible. Project photos are located in the photo gallery.
Dear James Project, Just want to thank you again for the way you ministered to us last month. We were truly blessed. The house and yard look wonderful. We are so grateful. Thank you for volunteering your time, energy and expertise in completing projects that would have taken weeks for us to accomplish, even if we had the time, resources and finances. You and your church are so generous. Sharing your faith along with the labor of love is a true example of loving one’s neighbor. Thank you for your emphasis on prayer…before, during and after the work day. And thank you for the prayer follow up ministry after the project. It’s such a blessing that 27 people would spend their Saturday ministering to the community. The amount of work accomplished was amazing. It looks like the whole front and back yard had complete makeovers. The garage door looks like new and the stucco repair looks great. The installation of the ceiling fan was helpful beyond what you can imagine. The tree and bush trimming, stump removal, hauling, mowing, planting, and weed eating, etc. have made this house look so cared for. The quality of the workmanship was excellent. This is a great example of Christians working together in unity, harmony and camaraderie while blessing those in need. May the Lord continue to bless you all. Thank you again and again. In His love, Kent and Crystal |

LEVIN PROJECTThe Levin Project consisted of adding handicap access ramps to the home for the homeowner, Tiffany, as she had recently been hospitalized for Multiple Sclerosis and needed rehabilitation while in a wheelchair. A concrete entryway was added to the home to guarantee a safe path of travel by wheelchair in and out of the home. Safety grab bars were also installed in the master bathroom for the homeowner. Please read the homeowners note below. Project photos are located in the photo gallery.
To the JP team, As our family has had to accept the fact that I have multiple sclerosis one of the biggest challenges has been getting me in and out of the house. Thanks to your team, the ramp has allowed me to access the house without assistance. That is huge in the case of an emergency. The JP team has also fixed several items in the house that will now allow me to do my every day chores. Things like: switching my washer and dryer, drywall repair, paint repair, and some yard work. What seems like a simple task to the JP team have been huge jobs for my family. Each person from the team has served from such a humble place in their hearts that it has made it easy to accept the help. Not only that, but my husband has been touched by the fact that we would reach out to one another, with no strings attached, and help each other. Thank you from the bottom of our families heart. Our lives have been changed because of each one of you. The Levin Family |

FOBAR PROJECT HOME DEPOT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP This wonderful family, out of their love for children, adopted 2 special needs children in addition to the 2 children they already had, to lavish them all with love. The Fobar fence project included removal of an old fence, setting posts, and debris removal. The new fence provides a safe and secure backyard for the kids to play. A special thank you to store manager, Larry Cook for the use of a trailer for debris removal and discounts on products for this event. Project photos are located in the photo gallery.
Dear JP team: I just wanted to take the time and let the James Project know how very blessed we are by the fence repair. As a mom of special-needs kids, I don't always have the resources to use to do home repairs. We have to use our resources for our kids medical treatments. We were so incredibly blessed when we were chosen to receive such an amazing gift. Our fence was in such disrepair that we feared another large wind would take it down. Thank you so very much. KOTLENSKY PROJECTWe were blessed to help a recent widow and her daughter with a backyard clean-up and debris removal project as well as installation of a new fence. The Kotlensky family was referred to the James Project by one of their neighbors as the family had lost their husband and father just months before due to a heart attack and were feeling overwhelmed with home repairs. The James Project volunteers were able to assist the family with the volunteer hours to build a new fence. Both adults and youth participated on this project which made the event all the more special.
The family was also provided with a yard clean-up to prepare for the new fence which made the yard look great for spring. |

TAVAREZ PROJECT HOME DEPOT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPThe Tavarez family was in need of a handicap ramp for their two year old special-needs son, Joseph, who has been very ill due to muscular dystrophy. The entire family provides round-the-clock care for Joseph, making home repairs a burden. The main focus was to make the entrance and exit from the home wheelchair accessible as the family had been carrying their son and his medical supplies up and down front door steps. Home Depot Manager, Larry Cook, provided a discount on the wood and cement for the handrails. The family felt truly blessed to have the ramp built and expressed that the project went way above their expectations.
Dear JP Volunteers: We are so grateful for the ramp and the time that was put into our home. THANK YOU! Home Depot, your gift was a nice blessing! Our son Joseph, who struggles with muscular dystrophy, will soon receive his new wheelchair and we will all benefit from the easy access to and from the house. We were able to use the new ramp this past Monday when Joseph went to the hospital for treatment. The paramedics and fire department were so pleased with the new ramp and access to the home. Jaime and Ayde Tavarez In everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 1:6-7 |

DEETS-BREYER PROJECTThe homeowner was in need of a water heater replacement, minor electric repairs and installation of a shelf in the home. The homeowner is a widow and the James Project was able to help with these needs to ensure the homeowner had hot water during the winter months.
Dear JP Team: I want to thank the James Project for all of their help in November and December. My water heater had to be replaced and we now have hot water, which was great after doing without for 7 days. The electric repairs are fine and I appreciate the installation of a shelf in my home as well. The volunteers also completed a wall patch/repair. Great work! Thank you to everyone for all of the help I received; it was a blessing! Gloria D. |

SAENZ PROJECT HOME DEPOT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPThe Saenz family is a next door neighbor to one of our earliest projects. The homeowner is a single mom with a young toddler and was in need of a front yard and back yard clean-up to include debris removal. Her neighbor referred her to the James Project to see how we could help. A special thank you to Home Depot store manager, Larry Cook, for the discount on materials to make this event possible. Many volunteers worked this event to clean and beautify the yard for this mom and son. Volunteers added bark and flowers to the front yard planters to finish out the project. Project photos are located in the photo gallery.

SHARP PROJECTThe Sharp family was in need of stair carpeting and a whole yard clean-up. The mother is widowed with three children and the hours of time invested by volunteers lifted the burden of home ownership and put a smile on the family's face to have such care shown to the family.
Dear JP Team: THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH! I would like to take a moment to thank the James Project Team for all the AMAZING work they did on my home. I am a widowed mom of 3 children. My youngest daughter has severe allergies & the James Project installed the replacement carpet on my stairs & did so much yard work! It was so overwhelming for me. My son has been away with the Air Force & the yard work crept up fast. All the volunteers were amazing. I pray that God blesses these giving, serving hearts!! Thank you again, will all my heart!!! Thank you, Katie Sharp |

CAMPBELL PROJECT HOME DEPOT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPSteve and Deann Campbell approached the James Project to help with yard clean-up, electrical repair and fence work. We were excited to see 19 volunteers get their hands dirty for this event. The Campbell's met with Home Depot and were given sponsorship for half of their project needs. A special thank you to store manager, Larry Cook, for his generous donations to make this project possible. The Campbell's are a unique family in that both struggle with disabilities. Two years ago Steve injured his spinal column while bike riding, and his wife, Deann, has muscular dystrophy. This family has a special faith and shared their story with the volunteers while at the home. The volunteers were able to complete the yard clean-up, electrical repair, repair an existing fence and gate, and install a whole house fan to help lower utility bills.
Dear JP Team: We would like to thank all of the James Project volunteers who came out to our house last Saturday to pull weeds, trim bushes, plant flowers and build a new fence. Also, thanks to Sean for building and installing the whole house fan. These are just a few of the many jobs that were completed. We would also like to thank Olive Branch Church and Home Depot for donating the supplies. To each and every one of you, thank you very much. Steve and Deann Campbell |

CAMPBELL PROJECT UPDATECampbell's experience 40% drop in their utility bill!
A local Riverside company donated a new heating and air conditioning unit to the Campbell family due to Steve and DeAnn's disabilities. This gift provided a tangible money savings month by month which will allow this family to put additional funds towards Steve's rehabilitation. Dear JP Team: Thank you for the generous gift and installation of a new HVAC system. We could not have put the funds toward this need, but your gift has allowed us to not only save money on our monthly bills, but also put those monthly savings towards Steve's rehabilitation to aid in his healing. Thank you for such a wonderful gift that met several needs, all with one donation, for our family. Thank you! Steve an Deann Campbell |

COSTA PROJECTThe Costa Family project (home makeover) was completed in March 2012 and the home was placed on the market for sale April 21, 2012. Cathy, a single mom, was able to downsize to a condo which freed her up from the cost and time of home maintenance and allowed her to spend more time with her special needs son.
Dear JP Team: Thank you to the James Project for helping me prepare my home for sale; I never could have done this project on my own. I had been struggling for quite some time to keep up my home when my small group began helping me. Over the next several months I was able to re-evaluate my situation and I knew it was time for me to downsize as I could not keep up with the demands of a home when my son needed more time with me and costs were escalating. The James Project blessed us by coming to the home and cleaning up the yard, staging my home, painting, repairing broken tiles, and planting greenery to spruce up my yard. Their gift of labor allowed my home to sell within a few short weeks and gave me back time and financial freedom. Thank you to everyone who gave...you changed our lives by your kindness. DAVIDSON PROJECT HOME DEPOT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPThe Davidson project required a complete renovation of the front yard due to a citation from the City of Corona for yard improvements. The homeowner, a single low-income mother would have been fined immediately if repairs were not made. The homeowner contacted the Boy Scouts, who then put her in touch with the James Project. The homeowner also contacted Home Depot who generously offered to cover the cost of all supplies under their Community Help program. A special thank you to Home Depot store manager Larry Cook, and Garden Manager Greg Benevides, for their generosity and donating to make this event possible. This project included debris removal, top soil addition and rototilling, new bark and plantings, and new sod. Project photos are located in the photo gallery.
Dear JP Team: Words can't express how grateful I was to have your help with the renovation of my front yard. Without your help I would have been cited from the City of Corona and I still would not have had a means to correct the yard issue. There were many people who gave of their time, over the course of several weekends, to lay sod, remove rocks, lay bark, fix sprinklers, and so much more. Your time with my daughter and I has extended beyond this project, and for that I am so grateful . We were once strangers but now many of you have become friends. Thank you so much for all you did for my daughter and me. Trish Davidson |
